As I prepare for a debaucherous weekend with old friends, I'm trying, with little success, to get some projects of the needles before new ones can throw me off track.
I am so loving the Solstice Slip socks that I find myself delaying their completion, so I can work with the yarn just a little bit longer. I'm also trying a new tactic to maximize my yarn usage.
I've tried to weigh and guess, and I always chicken out and end up with quite a bit of remaining yarn. Not this time.
They are now the same length and are taking turns receiving more pattern repeats, one at a time. The centre-pull skein has so far been pretty problem free, but I'll have to me careful to keep my ends from twisting terribly as I get closer to the end. I hope to post a photo of a ridiculously short yarn end upon their completion.
Here they are, enjoying a refreshing evening out at KOL this week.
In keeping with my cheating ways, another backpack has been started, this one with a deadline I may have to burn the midnight oil to fulfill.
(Patons Classic in Regency and Rich Red, for yet another little girl's birthday party.)
The sweater has two of ten skeins worked, with the third wound and ready. The rest should probably be locked in a safe while I play catch-up with other projects.
And this time, I WILL succeed with lace, dammit!
(Flower Basket shawl, in the large Fleece Artist mill end I found back in February.)
If you hear of any arrests in the Digby area over the weekend, do me a favour and don't be worried.
Be jealous.

Very wise idea for the ends of those socks. I am really, really hoping I don't come up sort on my second Coupling. I have not too much left and at least 2.5 repeats plus the ribbing to go! Eek.
And I am sure your lace will come out right. If I can do it, you can!
I just am amazed at how many socks you did in June. Wah, I wish I didn't have the full time job plus the knitting teaching gig!

Wow, I had never thought of that approach on the socks - good thinking. Your projects are looking beautiful.

I've been thinking along the same lines for a pair of socks - I can't stand having all that yarn leftover.
Behave yourself (within reason) this weekend...

I am setting aside bail money now.

I should have gone toe up to get the most from my yarn, but I didn't....and now I will have to garter stitch graft the toe!
I'm enjoying this yarn too!

Hi! The socks look so cool. I love the color.
Miss you over on the dark side. Thought I'd see how you're doing.
Have a great weekend.

Oh, that shawl is lovely! Who would have thought that particular colorway would look good in lace? (You, obviously.) I tend to go for a more subdued color variance in my lace, and so love seeing other people prove to me what you can really do with it.
